I’ve got a blank slate baby..

Don’t you just love that subtle Taylor Swift reference. Ok enough with the cheesy New Years Quotes, but here’s to 2015! I thought I’d start the new year with something basic – a fresh start if you will.

I wanted to reflect on why this time of year is so magical. In the hustle and bustle of life it seems we tend to forget the big things in life, but the holiday time forces us to slow down and bring it all back. Quality time with family, being kind, feeling generous, optimism (and ill admit it, those yummy Christmas cookies are pretty important). It’s no wonder Christmas is a precursor to the new year and I think its where all our resolutions come from – the desire to hold on to the warm feelings that come around every holiday. I know I’m lucky if I’m still upholding one resolution by the end of February

This year I’m keeping it simple for my resolutions. In fact I think resolutions is too strong of a word, so I’m going with habits. Live healthy, think positively, and learn to let go of what I can’t control. I’ll leave it there as otherwise things would get too deep for my little blog.

Last year I found an idea online (bless you, Pintrest) and I hope to continue it in 2015. Whenever I felt I achieved something, made a memory, shared a funny joke with some, heck even when I just had a good day, I jotted it down on a piece of paper and kept it in a jar. A few days ago I opened all my little squares and remembered the great times 2014 that I may have forgotten or let slip away. It was a great reminder that, even if the year wasn’t extraordinarily momentous, there were still some great adventures.

Here I share some pictures from my Christmas season!

The Christmas cookies I was addicted to! Toffee shortbread. Can you say yum!?

So there you have it. My thoughts on wrapping up the year and starting in on 2015. I wish the best for everyone and hope the year is filled with many more blog posts. Until next time
