Product Feature- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette

You’re making me blush. Fine this palette is making me blush. Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?! I know by now the Hourglass ambient lighting blush palette is old news and but I thought I would still write about it. As soon as I saw this gem, I had this sudden, overwhelming need to give this trio a home! I rarely give the newest blush in stores a second glance, but this time I could not seem to tear my eyes away.

Packaged in a sleek and slim gold case, this palette comes with three shades include Mood Exposure, Luminous flush and incandescent Electra (an exclusive shade to the palette). All three shades provide the prettiest glow and colour to the face with the added bonus of the infamous hourglass highlight from the shimmers in each blush. This girl has yet to purchase the ambient lighting highlight pallet – got to keep the spending in check sometimes.

While this palette is on the pricier end, I definitely think it is worth it. Especially if you are not a blush fanatic like I am, it’s great to have one go to set that will never let you down. The pigmentation is superb and is very buildable, allowing for both subtle romantic looks to some intense cheek colour. The shades are long-lasting without the need to reapply throughout the day.

All three shades are gorgeous but my personal favourite of the palette is Mood Exposure. As I had never worn let alone even swatched a colour like this before, I was initially hesitant towards this colour due to its purple hues. I found it looked most natural on my skin and really popped whenever I wore a colour that complimented it.  Just goes to show you can’t judge a blush by its colour.

After the success of this blush find, perhaps I should expand my horizon! What are some of your favourite blushes?

Until next time

Product Feature – Clinique Chubby Stick Contour

It’s no surprise that sculpting and contouring has taken the world by storm.  I myself am amateur at best in my contouring game so I’ll welcome any product to help improve skills. If only we could all achieve those Kim K sculpted cheekbones. I currently only own powder products, but I was interested in finding a cream product. Behold, my prayers were answered as Clinique recently came out with their Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour.

This product only comes in one shade, which initially worried me as I felt it would be too close to my natural skin colour, but thankfully it was dark enough. Hopefully Clinique will introduce a wider range of shades for us. Application is very smooth, super easy to blend, and very buildable. I find the finish much more natural than a powder product. Rather than sitting on top of your makeup, the creamy formula blends and sinks into your skin and foundation. I’ve also noticed a bit of shimmer in the product prior to blending it in which adds a bit of brightness and built-in highlight.

Let’s talk about the packaging, aka the way to any beauty lover’s heart. I love the chubby stick and its compact nature. Super easy to pop in a makeup bag rather than a bulky palette. I use the almighty beauty blender to work the product into the skin; eliminating the need to carry around a brush. Also I love the chubby stick as it allows you to be precise and target the exact hollows of you cheekbones to get the sculpted look.

I did find however that the lasting power with this product wasn’t great as the colour did fade throughout the day. Now I wouldn’t say my skin type is oily, but this could be an issue for some. Perhaps my skin is super dry and is trying to absorb every bit of moisture? Perhaps I’m not used to wearing cream products? This definitely isn’t a negative for the product. Just something I have to be aware of in my own use. I tried setting it with the Nars Contour Blush in Gienah the next day and it lasted much longer.

In addition to being affordable, I would give this a big thumbs up. Let me know some of your contouring secrets!

Product Feature – Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow

First off, is this not one of the most beautiful palettes you have ever seen?

I spotted the Hourglass Modernist eye shadow palette on the Sephora website prior to its release and I have been dreaming about it ever since. I seriously could stare at this thing all day. Selecting the colour scheme I wanted was very tricky, as usual I wanted all of them (they are just so beautiful).  But, in an attempt to branch out from my standard #basic neutral eye look, I decided on Exposure which comes with 5 shadows ranging in the plum colour family.

This palette I will admit, has quite the hefty price tag but the quality and luxuriousness of the shadows definitely justify the price. I don’t think I have ever worked with shadows that have blended so seamlessly. A little product goes on long way as they are highly pigmented, very creamy and easy to build.  Each shadow I used applied onto my eyelid smoothly and blended into, something that I think, is a professional looking smoky eye (And believe me I am not a professional when it comes to eye shadow).

The one downside I did notice was the fallout of eye shadow within the palette. While there is no fallout when applying to the skin, the fallout happens within the packaging when dipping your brush into the shadows. Keeping in mind that a little product goes a long way there isn’t a need to really pack the shadow onto the brush. Who would want to waste such a beautiful thing?!

Overall I think this is a great product. From the beautiful packaging, the gorgeous shape of the shadows to the actual colour schemes, this one lives up to everything I hoped it would be. It is definitely a luxury purchase but totally worth it. If I had to pick a second colour scheme to buy I would go with the olive palette. A girl can always dream.
