Travel Tricks – Evening Outfits and Make-up Routine

There is no question that beach vacations are super fun and relaxing. Soaking up the warm sun all day. The natural sea salt water curls. The mid day Piña Colada. After spending most of the day in a soggy bikini and sticky from sunscreen, I like to dress up for dinner and night-time entertainment (and more Piña Coladas). Here are a few outfit of the night pictures from the week.

Now you are probably wondering about my beauty and hair routine. I didn’t pack any of my hot tools for the week, so my hair care was simple. My hair was just washed and air-dried, and I added a spritz of Living Proof Instant Texture Mist (Oh Sephora samples, how I Love you). This texture mist was great for adding extra wave and body. For beauty I tried to keep it to the basics, as gross but true, the evening humidity tended to sweat it off.

Weekend Update: Happy Spring and Easter Weekend

Happy Spring Friends!

It is officially spring, although it is still quite chilly where I am (Thanks, never-ending Canadian winters!) After a brutal winter, I’m craving bright colours, light and flowy spring outfits and a whole lot of sunshine. This past weekend was Easter and I thought I would share some of the fun events and the seasonal inspiration I used for this festive spring weekend.

My favourite place for a quick burst of colour is the nails. This weekend I opted for Essie’s Sittin’ Pretty. I have worn this shade numerous times since I featured it in my L’Oreal Haul a few weeks back. The light purple shade is bright, perfect for spring and gets tons of compliments.

The beauty lover’s equivalent to spring cleaning? A spring haircut! I have always felt comfortable and confident with long, layered hair. I decided a healthy cut was needed as my dry and winter damaged hair was weighing me down. I took the not so deep plunge and opted for the long bob and popped in a few mocha brown highlights for  dimension. This cut has been showing up everywhere recently! It feels so great, is super low maintenance and I think it gives me a fun new look to play with this summer.

Nothing gets me more excited than cute baked goods. While scouring Pinterest, I stumbled across a recipe for these cute Easter Egg Cake Pops and I had to try them out. Aside from forming the batter into the shape of an egg, these cuties follow the standard instructions for regular cake pops. It’s super fun to decorate them with tons of spring colour sprinkles to make unique patterns. Be warned these cuties took a lot of time and I nearly threw in the towel so pack your patience when trying them out!

dsc02334Finally a quick “What I wore” for a family Easter dinner. I paired this Wilfred tank with black leggings and Michael Kors flats.

And there you have it! Some of my spring and Easter Inspirations. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are getting your spring on! Let me know some of your inspirations.

Until next time,

And the award goes to…

I’m the girl who loves the Oscars. Hollywood’s biggest night they call it. The movies, the red carpet glam, the opening monologue…I love it all.

Every year, I do my best to try to see as many of the best picture nominations as I can. This year I made it to 4 out of 8; The Theory of Everything, Imitation Game, American Sniper, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. My favourite you ask? The Theory of Everything. Not only was this a touching story of the life of scientist Steven Hawking, but the acting by leading man Eddie Redmayne was superb! He was also my stand out pick for the guys on the red carpet this season.

But alas as this is a beauty blog and I am a beauty addict, my truly favourite part of the evening are the red carpet looks. Here are some of my favourite gowns from last night’s awards.

Rosamund Pike: Can we all agree how amazing Gone Girl was? I’ve always wondered if red gowns on red carpets are too much. This one however is stunning. The rosettes and slit up the front give it a standout and modern edge. I also love the cinching at the waist that shows off the amazing fit on her figure. I don’t think I’ve had any complaints towards the looks Rosamund Pike has worn this season.

Jamie Chung: I will admit, I don’t know who you are or what you acted in but the dress was on point. I spotted this dress from a bloggers tweet and I fell in love. I’m a sucker for a sheer nude ball gown dress with a sparkly overlay. Navy is also one of my favourite colours to see on the red carpet so this one gets five stars in my books.

Jennifer Lopez: JLo I don’t know why you were at the Oscars but you killed it.  I told you I loved the sheer nude ball gown with a sparkly overlay. From head to toe this consistency of the nude colour is amazing.  I love the volume and plunging neckline on this dress as well. If I had to pick one winner for the night in the dress category, it would be this one. This is definitely not a Jenny from the block look.

Anna Kendrick: This is another girl who always pulls knock out looks. The dress is standout with the peachy colour, the shape and the blingy neckline that draws you to the cute cut out. I want this dress. But I think what I love most about Anna Kendrick here is her make-up. It complements her look perfectly without being overpowering. Definitely a makeup look I want to recreate this spring.

There were so many other amazing dresses and looks but these were by far my favourite. Which dresses were your favourites? I wish I could get all dolled up for a red carpet event and wear one of these dresses. *sigh. A girl can dream I guess!

Until next time,
