Product Feature- Bright Eyes with Colourful Liner

When it comes to my make-up, I stick with what I know. For early mornings, I’ve mastered the neutral smoky eye and when I want to go a little bolder, I’ve got my routine dark lip. As I become more confident with makeup, the first thing I want to add to my looks is colour. The perfect way to achieve this – add a bright bold coloured liner to an otherwise neutral eye!

Book Report — Paper Towns by John Green

Summertime is in full swing and I’ve started tackling my summer reading list! Based on the buzz, I had to give priority to John Green’s Paper Towns, which I featured in my What’s in My Beach Bag post. You see I’m a ‘read the book before seeing the movie’ type of gal so I had to finish before the release date.

Like all of John Green’s books, Paper Towns was a page-turner. Growing up in a small town myself, it’s easy to understand why Margo believed there is much more to the world and desperately wanted to get out. I still dream of getting out. I read this book at the most opportune time. As I am making career decisions and dreaming towards the future, it is easy to get caught up in the planning. I am a perfectionist. This book reminded me that sometimes planning is more fun, and its ok if things don’t turn out exactly as you expected because the memory is in the adventure. One of my favourite quotes from the book:

“Nothing ever happens like you imagine it will…But then again, if you don’t imagine, nothing ever happens at all. Imaging isn’t perfect”

UK beauty blogger Essie Button, a fellow Canadian and personal favourite of mine, featured this book in her Button’s Bookshelf series on her YouTube Channel. She hits all the key points and sums up my feelings to the book exactly. Take a look at her video below!

If you haven’t read Paper Towns yet, I suggest you get your hands on a copy. I know I can’t wait to see the movie. What books are on your summer reading list?

Until next time,

Charlotte Tilbury Toronto Collection Launch!

Don’t you just hate when you find a product that looks amazing and when you keep researching, you find it’s not available anywhere near where you live. The disappointment is real. Well I’ve been eyeing Charlotte Tilbury’s products for so long that I even planned a trip to the counter for an upcoming trip to London. I was thrilled when I heard she was launching her line at Holt Renfrew in Toronto, so I had to attend the event to hear Charlotte speak as well as pick up some goodies for myself!

Snack time – Zucchini Chips

If I’m ever having a junk food craving, it’s usually for something salty. Don’t get me wrong sweet treats are delicious, but in my opinion nothing beats a good bag of chips. My favourite? It’s a tie between ketchup chips (a true Canadian classic) and Dorito’s Sweet Chilli Heat. Though I’d love to eat a whole bag of chips myself, I quite simply can’t undo all the hard work in the gym. Today’s snack comes from a foodie blog called My San Francisco Kitchen with yummy baked Zucchini chips.

IMG_1241This recipe was super easy to whip up. Prep time is about 10 minutes with about an hour to bake. All you do is slice your zucchini and toss in olive oil with spices! The recipe suggests using a mandolin slicer to get the zucchini nice and thin, but since I didn’t have one I just used a tiny but sharp knife, which worked fine. My two small zucchini yielded a small amount of chips. If you are looking to make a big batch, make sure to stock up on the green guys.

IMG_1242As for the taste – YUMMY! I loved these. The paprika really added a great spicy kick, which is right up my alley. I thought my chips were getting a bit burnt so I hastily took them out at the 1-hour mark. Unfortunately they were not crispy enough so I think they would have been fine cooking for the extra half hour. Over all these were a great snack and a fun way to add in an extra veggie to your daily intake. IMG_1245

Let me know some of your favourite healthy snacks?
